On 2/24/25, I purchased this vehicle from Manheim California. On March 12, 2025, I was informed by my transporter that the vehicle was stolen from the auction. I have reached out to auction security, the arbitration manager, the General Manager at the auction, and have yet to receive a phone call or an email. It is my understanding that Manheim's Central Dispatch was ultimately the carrier on this unit, and their account was compromised and a gate pass was illegally obtained, which led to the unit being stolen. This needs to be addressed by senior management at Manheim California. Additional details can be provided as necessary, but Manheim ignoring this issue is not acceptable.
As you mention, a vehicle was purchased through Manheim California and transportation arranged by someone from your dealership to have the vehicle transported to you via the Central Dispatch platform. While I am not in position to speak to all Central Dispatch’s processes, I do not that dealers and transporters communicate with one another and arrange a deal to have vehicles transported for a fee. From time to time, unscrupulous individuals may breach into a particular transporters account and represent themselves falsely as that transporter. Unfortunately, the dealer may then send a legitimate gate pass to that fraudster, who in turn hires a legitimate transporter, sends them the gate pass, and has them drop the vehicle to a designated area where they retrieve it. In short, your vehicle has likely been stolen in this manner. While Manheim has followed protocol fully and released the vehicle on a valid gate pass, what I can advise is that you report the vehicle as stolen through Anaheim PD. We can provide the PD with a copy of the gate pass, the name and DL of the remover of the vehicle, and a photo of it being removed. As I mentioned that person is likely just an unknowing legit transporter that was hired. He will have been contacted by a phone that is probably no longer in use. If you would, could you please give me the name of the transport company you hired through Central Dispatch and a name/phone number of the individual you may have spoken with. I can then pass this information onto Central Dispatch so that they can flag that transporter as possibly compromised. Again, I am sorry for your situation.Thank you. / Greg Parker, MBA, CPP | Corporate Security Operations Manager IIICox Enterprises, Inc. | 6205 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd. | Atlanta, GA 30328P: 714-577-6181 |*: greg.parker2@coxinc.com
